As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

The Corporate Risk Strategy Planning & Governance Office (SP&G) is responsible for supporting Wells Fargo’s Chief Risk Officer in managing the Corporate Risk function, its primary functions include: Corporate Risk Business Strategy, Planning and Operations; Governance; Corporate Risk Technology & Data Architecture; Corporate Risk Front Line Risk Oversight, Corporate Risk Global Delivery; and General Business Administration.

We are currently hiring for 2 positions within the team; both roles report directly to the Corporate Risk Strategy Planning and Governance leader who is aligned with the Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Chief Risk Officer in Independent Risk Management. 

  • WIM Risk Strategy Consultant
  • WIM Risk Governance Consultant

These positions will work closely together, and in many instances may support work the other is leading. Both roles will also assist in supporting the planning responsibilities of the team. 

The Strategy Consultant is primarily responsible for:

  • Defining and Implementing strategies to establish organizational efficiency and risk management effectiveness
  • Establishing and maintaining effective routines to govern the WIM Risk organization
  • Coordinating the implementation of the Chief Risk Officer Model for WIM Risk, including establishing and maintaining new routines across the WIM aligned risk teams.
  • Creating strategic presentations and relevant business updates.
  • Coordinating with the Corporate Risk Business Support centralized teams to manage business support routines such as; expense and headcount management, business continuity and resiliency planning, recovery and resolution planning, third party management, etc.

The Governance Consultant is primarily responsible for: 

  • Oversight and execution of administration and business management activities in order to assure function is effectively run day to day including
  • Facilitate development of transformation and change management efforts.
  • Establish and support governance routines for the WIM Risk team including routines for issues management, risk assessments, risk appetite and metrics as well as support for governance committees.

These positions will contribute to critical risk management programs and activities, including risk and control committee management, board reporting, and monitoring the execution of Risk Management Framework related programs. 

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: business support, project management, implementation, business operations or strategic planning in financial services
  • 5+ years of leadership experience

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating and delivering compelling executive presentations with high impact visuals
  • Knowledge and understanding of program management: development of roadmaps, strategies, and management of programs ranging from concepts in ideation through to delivery
  • Knowledge and understanding of ever-evolving regulatory environments and governance processes
  • Understanding of risk management and COO related activities supporting a line of business or the enterprise risk management function. 
  • Business management, including human capital planning and budget management
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables at same time within fast paced environment 
  • Strong business and risk acumen
  • Ability to apply critical thinking in describing multiple risks into a single risk landscape
  • Ability to develop and manage business relationships
