Network Architect – Information Technology

Leander Independent School District

This is a Full-time position in Leander, TX posted February 23, 2021.

Primary Purpose Responsible for designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless environments, Network Access Control integration, the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems. Creates, tests, and evaluates all above networks. Major Responsibilities And Duties bull Analyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their framework. bull Design, test, and inspect data communications systems. bull Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. bull Install hardware such as cables, switches, routers, and wireless controllers bull Develop technology roadmaps. bull Configure network drivers for software bull Analyze, engineer, and execute software functions. bull Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for various projects. bull Manage technology vendors. bull Stay abreast of how technology infrastructures are currently impacting and driving the K-12 EDU space. bull Determine production direction. bull Write functional requirementsspecifications documents. bull Assess vendor developmenttest strategies. bull Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. bull Upgrade network hardware and software components as required. bull Solve complex problems with many variables. bull Facilitate the development of department standards, metrics, policies, and processes. bull Actively maintain a culture of shared leadership with other ITS Directors foster a culture of accountability so that all ITS staff know what they need to achieve in order to be considered successful. bull Measure and report on performance relating to processes, key performance measures, and service-level objectives. bull Manage assigned budget develop forecast models and monitor expenditures. bull Provide appropriate autonomy to technical experts, while holding them accountable for overall success of their subsystems and projects help to create a growth path for all staff through such efforts as peer-to-peer mentoring and cross-training, while also incentivizing staff to engage in vendorindustry seminars and accredited continuing education programs. bull Hire, supervise and maintain an effective team capable of completing assigned goals. Evaluate job performance of staff to ensure effectiveness. Promote a positive working environment among subordinates and between departments. bull Provide adequate training for staff when new methodologiessystems are implemented. bull Communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers. bull Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department and campus staff and vendors. bull Establish an organizational climate that provides high-quality, friendly customer service courtesy, that focuses on problem resolution. bull Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. bull Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities bull Supervise Network Engineers. GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES EducationCertificationExperience bull Bachelors Degree degree in Computer Science or related field. bull Cisco CCIE Certification required or will obtain within 12 months. bull Progressively responsible experience oversee network technologies. Experience in Cisco routeswitch, firewalls, wireless, Mobile Device Management, Network Access Control systems (CiscoAruba) required. KnowledgeSkillsAbilities bull Knowledge of advanced network design and troubleshooting. bull Skill in problem solving strategic planning customer interface written and oral communication organization, organizational leadership Ability to troubleshoot problems and not give up until issues are resolved. bull Ability to maintain and troubleshoot systems implement policy and procedures learn, manage and adapt quickly to an ever- changing environment and willingness to attend training and readresearch as needed to extend knowledge and maintain awareness of best practices and emerging technologies. Must be able to exchange accurate information. bull Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions. bull Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis. bull Ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside immediate work unit. bull Ability to compose material such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications of significant scope or impact. bull Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data andor to develop forecasts and computer models. bull Ability to make information presentations, inside and outside the district. bull Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-priority environment. bull Ability to handle difficult conversations and deescalate supervised employees, other staff and community members. bull Prolonged sitting occasional bendingstooping, pushingpulling, and twisting. bull Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse occasional reaching. bull Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). bull May work prolonged or irregular hours. Work with frequent interruptions. bull Maintain composure and professionalism at all times.
